    Prerequisites:
    • 16 years of age on or before the last date of the course
    • Complete online Blended Learning before the first day of class, link will be emailed to you once you have registered for the class
    • Complete precourse session which includes:Swim the following skills at a learn-to-swim Level 4
      1. Front Crawl-25 yards.
      2. Back Crawl-25 yards.
      3. Breaststroke-25 yrds.
      4. Elementary Backstroke-25 yards.
      5. Sidestroke-25 yards.
      6. Butterfly-25 yards.
    • Maintain position on back 1 minute in deep water (sculling is allowed)
    • Tread water 1 minute
    Requirements:

    In order to become a Water Safety Instructor you must complete the precourse skills, attend all classes, participate and be prepared for the four teach-back assignments and score at least an 80% on the final written exam. All class participants must arrive on time, have homework assignments finished and ready for review each day of class and receive feedback from fellow classmates with maturity and an open-mind.

    Certification Includes:

    Once you have completed the Basic Swim Instructor course you will be certified to teach:
    • Parent and Child Aquatics (2 Levels)
    • Preschool Aquatics (3 Levels)
    • Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-3
    • Private Lessons (for Above Levels)
    • Longfellow’s WHALE Tales
    • Water Safety Presentations:
      • General Water Safety
      • Home Pool Safety
      • Parent Orientation to Swim Lessons
      • Sun Safety
      • Rip Current Safety
    *additional bridging or self-orientation required

    Course Length:

    The Blended Learning content consists of 23hrs of in-class work and 7hrs of at home online study. This class includes an on-line portion that must be completed prior to the first day of class. Participants must complete all 30 hours to be eligible for certification.

    • Please remember to bring a laptop computer, bathing suit, a bagged lunch and towels.
    • Please brush up on your swimming skills and refer to the web page for the class you are registering to take and review the pre-course testing skills.
    • If you are registering for a Review class please make sure your LG cert is current and not expired.

    Terms & Conditions

    • A refund will not be given to anyone who fails pre-course testing or the class. A processing fee of 10% will be taken out of all refunds.

Further, it is hereby certified that the above-named participant has no medical or psychological conditions which would preclude such participation. I hereby authorize WML Aquatics through its authorized agents to secure for self / minor any emergency medical treatment that becomes or that may become necessary as a result of participation in class. I acknowledge I have read and understand this information.

    WML Aquatics will conduct classes in the manner prescribed by the American Red Cross, which has provided guidelines for proper hygiene. Each student will be provided with the use of his or her own manikin and AED equipment for instruction. Instructors will be required to properly decontaminate all equipment between classes.
