Lifeguard Instructor

Prerequisites:

  • 17 years old on or before the last day of class
  • Complete Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT is included in the class if not currently certified) or have a current American Red Cross instructor certificate from another course
  • Complete precourse session which includes
    1. 80% or higher on written exam
    2. Pass all base level lifeguard skills

Requirements:

Completion and competency of precourse skills, oxygen administration and exam (even if participant was not previously certified,) score 80% or better on final exam. Participants must behave maturely and responsibly toward all activities including the feedback given by fellow classmates. All class dates must be attend.

Course Length:

This class is 23 hours based on 10 students including Fundamentals of Instructor Training. All class sessions must be attended to be eligible for certification. Participants must complete all 23 hours unless they do not need FIT. If students already have FIT or hold a current instructor card then 18 hours must be completed in order to be eligible for certification.
